Santes Creus, route of the cister

Guided tour - Santes Creus - Mari Carmen Granados
1863

Santes Creus is an old Cistercian monastery that forms part of the Cistercian Route, made up of the monasteries of Poblet, in the region of Conca de Barberà and the female monastery of Vallbona de les Monges in the province of Lleida.

Santes Creus is placed in a northern region of Tarragona called Alt Camp.

Nowadays Santes Creus is  public monument without monastic activity. It preserves the main rooms of the abbey: the Gothic cloister sponsored by King Jaume II and the rooms around it: the meeting room, the dormitory with impressive diaphragm arches, the Cistercian church that preserves the tombs of King Peter the Great and his son James II, etc.

In this visit we will also watch the audiovisual that introduces us to the world of the Cistercian order. This is a surround audiovisual placed in the old cellar and in the old scriptorium of the monastery.
