Arrecife: the old town
Guided tour of the old town of Arrecife, to discover the origins of what is now the capital of the island of Lanzarote.
We start the visit in the area of Charco de San Ginés, where I will tell you about the fishing origins of the city and the evolution of this area. Did you know that César Manrique was born near here?
From here we go to the church of San Ginés before strolling through the central Calle Real, where we will see the “Yellow House”, the former seat of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
We finally reach the main avenue and visit the Puente (brige) de Las Bolas and the San Gabriel Castle, where I will tell you about the time when pirates attacked the island of Lanzarote and its current capital.
Before returning to our starting point, we will see some buildings, examples of the traditional architecture.
The visit ends with a gastronomic stop (optional) to taste the products of the land.
